Our Story

AfroTropic was born from a simple, powerful desire: to make the flavours of home accessible to every African family living in Europe.

Who We Are

We are Tropical-Shop GmbH, a Swiss-registered company founded by Okuba Ghebre, an Eritrean entrepreneur based in Sion, Switzerland. Our brand AfroTropic is built by the diaspora, for the diaspora.

Growing up Eritrean in Europe means knowing that certain tastes — the smoky bite of real berbere, the earthy richness of freshly ground Ethiopian coffee, the soft tang of injera made with proper teff — are almost impossible to find unless you know where to look. AfroTropic is where you look.

What We Do

We source, import and deliver authentic African groceries, spices, coffee and lifestyle products directly to your door across Germany, Switzerland, Austria and the wider EU. Every product we carry has been selected for its authenticity and quality.
